Police are seeking to indict the car driver who was involved in a fatal accident on Addu City’s Link Road last March, which resulted in the death of a young man.
The victim was Mohamed Rashmu Riyaz, 28, of Hithadhoo island, who had been driving a motorcycle when the accident took place on March 10.
Maldives Police Service announced Wednesday that they had forwarded the case to the Prosecutor General’s Office on April 18, seeking to charge the driver of the car involved.
The driver is a youth of Maradhoo island, who is also a student at the flying school operated in Gan.
Police had initially arrested the driver after the accident. However, he was released soon afterwards.
Rashmu, who worked as a bus driver for Leo Shuttles that provides bus services to Shangrilla Resort employees, was on his way to work when the incident took place. His body was badly mangled with several broken bones, and Hithadhoo Regional Hospital had pronounced him dead on arrival.
